"A country cannot simultaneously prepare and prevent war"

Bush the WarmongerIt would seem that Bush is determined to go to war despite the release of a U.S. Intelligence report that says Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003.

Bush calls for renewed pressure on Iran

WASHINGTON - President Bush said Tuesday that the international community should continue to pressure Iran on its nuclear programs, saying a new intelligence report finding that Tehran halted its development of a nuclear bomb doesn’t mean it’s not a danger.

"I view this report as a warning signal that they had the program, they halted the program," Bush said. "The reason why it’s a warning signal is they could restart it."

Bush spoke one day after a new national intelligence estimate found that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in the fall of 2003, largely because of international scrutiny and pressure.

Has this man no shame or sense of conscience?  Is he really so bloodthirsty that he’s willing to sacrifice thousands of our soldiers’ lives as well as untold numbers of innocent Iranians just to further his agenda?  Given the intelligence report, how can he really expect us to believe that his desire to go to war with Iran is about anything other than oil?

I ask these questions superfluously out of sheer disgust.  Bush’s statements today have already answered my questions, and I am so friggin’ mad I can barely sit still long enough to type this out.  He accuses the Muslim nations of being on a jihad when it seems he himself is on a hellbent mission to bring war to each of their countries.

I was taught in school, church, and by my parents that war was a bad thing; it was only started by bad men and should be avoided at all costs.  Preemptive war wasn’t even discussed back then although I am sure both my teachers and parents would have laughed at the absurdity of the term.  A war to prevent war?  That makes no sense.

Bush and his cronies seem obsessed with plunging the U.S. into the middle of World War III.  Are we as Americans going to let that happen?  Are we so afraid that we will go along with their plans to attack whomever they point their finger at and say "terrorist"?  There will always be someone that will be labeled as an enemy, so when and where does it ever stop?

Remember that Bush lied once already to plunge us into war.  Do you really believe he won’t do it again?

  1. War with Iran is unlikely given the current anti-war sentiment not only in the general public, but with Congress. In an election year, the Republican party likely won’t impotently stand by while their chances of keeping the presidency gets trampled by more soldiers heading to yet another front.

That being said, I believe Bush’s stance is deplorable. Not unexpected, but deplorable.

I like your take: “He accuses the Muslim nations of being on a jihad when it seems he himself is on a hellbent mission to bring war to each of their countries.”

However, common sense tells us we do need to keep an eye on nations whose leadership are hostile toward the U.S., which Iran’s blatantly is. War? No. Watch with suspicion? Definitely.

  2. God tells him what to do… You know little voices in his head (or is that Cheney whispering in his ear?). And his God is not the sweet little baby in the manger in our Christmas decorations, his God is “git that oil before those Chinese bastards beat us to it”.

  3. Good god…another attempt to make us believe that we’re in the right by being in Iraq. Spare me.

  4. WHOOOOOAAA THERE SCOTTY. . .

“Continue to pressure” Iran does not mean “go to war.” Where does President Bush say we’re going to war with Iran? You have way over-reacted. Nobody has said anything about going to war with Iran. You have been brain-washed by the liberal media into believing that just about anything President Bush says about monitoring what some less than desirable people in Iran are up to means “we’re going to war.” Pour yourself a cocktail and relax.

  5. Unfortunately, Congress is clearly afraid to actually stand up to Bush and his groupies i.e. all of unsuspecting Democrats electing the current morons in under the pretense that they were willing to actually stop the madness. Did it happen? Not even close, sometimes I think it’s even gotten worse. And clearly Bush has no desire to actually listen to the general population…he just does what he wants and damn the consequences.

If he keeps this up? There won’t be a US to use the oil he’s hellbent to get.

  6. mario-

This is the exact same posturing Bush did in the run-up to the Iraq War. Do you really believe for a minute that he isn’t trying to build a case for a war against Iran?

Perhaps if people would have scrutinized and questioned Bush harder when he was doing this back before the Iraq War, the war itself could have been prevented.

    Fool me once…

  7. i am dumbfounded that this 2003 matter is realized; so much like the Iraq WMD.
I could half respect Bush if he was man enough to say he was wrong/sorry but i don’t see that happening.
how many more lies are there!?

  8. While I think that the leaders of Iran will all be going to hell in a merry handbasket, I certainly agree with everything Scott said.

Bush is crazy. In my world (clearly not the one we are living in) crazy people go to the asylum for treatment. Can’t someone just impeach this man and get it over with?
