I’ve made clear my feelings on blog awards before, i.e. I don’t put a lot of stock into them.  Often times the awards are little more than a popularity contest.  If I wanted to compete for popularity, I’d go back to high school.  

Nonetheless, when a little birdie informed me that I am a finalist in the QueerVerve 2007 GLBT Verve Awards, I became as giddy as a schoolgirl being asked to dance by the Homecoming King.   Specifically, I am in the running for the following:

• Best GLBT Blog of the Year
• Best GLBT Blog Writing
• Best GLBT Personal Blog
• Best GLBT American Blog

In looking over the finalists, I am up against some very tough competition.  I am impressed to see however that the finalists are not just the "usual suspects" and that some lesser-known but outstanding blogs are nominated.  I am going to have a tough time choosing who to vote for.

If you would like to vote for me for class president my blog,  I would sure appreciate it.  Be forewarned though that if I win anything, you’ll have to deal with my super-inflated ego for several months.  You can vote here through December 17th, 2007.  Even if you don’t want to vote for me (in which case I hate you!), you still might want to take a look at all the finalists for some links to some great blogs.

Congratulations to everyone who is a finalist.  Many of the bloggers are friends of mine who I must now kill in order to eliminate the competition.  Sorry guys!  That’s high school life.
 

P.S. Should I run some negative campaign ads against the other finalists?  Is that how this works?  Or should I make campaign promises like "I’ll grant sexual favors to anyone who votes for me" that I don’t intend to keep (mainly because Buckaroo won’t let me)?
