How stupid is this?
Rockies aim to trademark ‘Rocktober’
Slogan describes club’s run to National League Wild Card, World Series
Associated Press
DENVER - "Rocktober," the new shorthand for the Colorado Rockies’ amazing playoff run, is showing up everywhere from newspaper headlines to handmade ballpark signs. But now the team wants a trademark to keep anyone else from selling keepsakes bearing the word.
C’mon! That’s like trying to trademark the word Octoberfest or something. I’ve heard of "rocktober" promotions since I was knee-high.
I guess the air really is too thin up there in Denver, but what can you expect from a city that chose to name their baseball team after a geological mass of rock?

Sure sounds better than “Snaketober,” if you ask me…
They might get it because trademark office people don’t necessarily pay attention (although maybe the media attention will change that) but it’d be totally indefensible.

I think it’s more like “Diamondbactober.”
Choketober…
C’mon, you might as well start picking on everyone who tries to make money off something someone else came up with.
Hmmm, I think I see a little green eyed monster peeking its head up here. It’s no different than trademarking “threepeat” like the Bulls did. This just makes sure that people aren’t able to take advantage of the team’s name if this happens again (and again for a threepeat!!!)

Take advantage of the team’s name?
Give me a break!
hey, I’m not saying that the trademark request is justified or even that it makes sense, but Denver will always kick the ass of Phoenix as a city. nobody said the monforts (owners of the Rockies) were smart.

Your punctuation and capitalization skills clearly demonstrate how Denver is superior to Phoenix.
I’m hoping Cleveland can pull it out this year.
