Although he wouldn’t join our family until November 11th, Karter was born a year ago today. We adopted him from a rescue organization for dogs (specifically Aussie Cattle Dogs). Fortunately they had good records about his birth. He was part of a litter of four: two males and two females. I don’t know anything about his mother though. All the puppies were available for adoption when we went to check them out, but we fell in love with Karter. He wasn’t quite as aggressive as his brother, and we wanted a male dog since we already had a female (Bailey).
I still refer to Karter as my "little guy" although he’s grown like a weed. He stands taller than Bailey now and is beginning to realize he can use that to his advantage. Bailey of course is having none of it.
It may be Karter’s birthday, but Buckaroo and I received the best gift.

Rocky will be my first pet that I know an actual birthday, so I guess there’s pressure now to do something special… though it’s pretty close to Christmas maybe we’ll just celebrate both and he won’t know the difference!
