David has some excellent cat haiku on his site that any cat owner will appreciate. My favorite:
Am I in your way?
You seem to have it backwards:
This pillow is taken.
In response, my dogs Bailey and Karter came up with some dog haiku:
Bark bark bark bark bark
Lick lick lick lick lick slobber
scratch scratch scratch scratch fart

Happy Valentine’s Day
I didn’t understand your second comment on my post until I came here and read the post. Ah yes, Bailey and Karter. I was almost about to look up their blog to see who they were.
“Happy Valentine’s”
Says Isabella, my cat,
With Vomit of Joy
I’m your friend always,
forever … ( especially
when you are eating)
I am your best friend,
until you wish to hold me,
then I am Satan.
or
My food bowl is full,
therefore I do not need you
or your silly love.
or
I am Royalty.
Don’t forget you scoop my poop,
bring me more tuna.
This is fun.
You are my bitch, sir.
Wake up and feed me right now.
Or you’ll be sorry.
(Love, Pippin and Screech)
Haiku is so much fun.
You “cat people” are strange…
But here’s one from a my dog Fred the Basset:
I lounge on your couch
And drool where your friends sit
Yet you still feed me.
Pretty damned profound for an animal who’s main activity is licking himself - you all know you’re jealous.
J
let me out right now!
i want back in the house again!
who said close the door?
Haiku or reality…where ever she is, my cat is certain she should be somewhere else, right now!…and I, her slave ,should have known it before she had to ask.
good poems indeed
altough I will stick with Yeats
From my cat Theo:
Did you like my gift?
A hairball, all nice and warm
for you to step on.
I spy sleeping prey
Under the mound of blankets
Like lightning, I strike!
This is what I imaging my pets are thinking in the morning–
My cats:
Masters Are Sleeping
Birds perch barely out of reach
Let’s see if I fly
My dogs:
Get up daddy please
I have to go out and pee
In or out, you choose
My birds
Damn those cats and dogs
Cats try to eat me each day
Dogs don’t help at all.
