Hi everyone! Buckaroo here. I know it’s been a long time coming, and I’ve been getting a lot of grief about it, especially from Mr. Scott-O-Rama man. Well here you have it . . .
100 Things About Me (Buckaroo)
1. I was born in Louisiana & have always wanted to go back and see it as I moved away when I was about 2.
2. I have 1 brother (about 2 years younger).
3. My entire family’s names start with "the same letter".
4. Growing up, even our dogs names all started with "that same letter"
5. My dad was in the Navy and we moved a lot (!) during my childhood.
6. I’ve also lived in Texas, Hawaii, California, Virginia, Oklahoma, New Mexico, & Arizona.
7. My parents did their best to move only after the school year was done so we wouldn’t feel awkward.
8. My 1st memories are of being on a ship at the dinner table and (I swear!) all the plates were nailed down to the table so they wouldn’t roll off the table. Then later that night after watching cartoons in the movie theatre, everyone got sick and I got to sleep in a bunk bed. We were on our way from Texas to Hawaii via the Panama Canal.
9. My uncle & aunt on my dad’s side never had children, so I don’t have any cousins on that side of my family. My mom had 11 brothers and sisters - Sort of makes up for my dad’s side.
10. I used to live on a navy base in the San Francisco Bay (Treasure Island) & from my house I could see Alcatraz. One time playing on that side of the island, I came pretty darn close to slipping into the bay while showing off.
11. When I lived on Treasure Island, my all time favorite TV show and I think it probably still is was "Land of the Giants". I used to dream about that show and wish I could be one of the little people. It was MANY years later before I was able to see the 1st episode. (I had always missed it whenever it was shown during it’s initial run)
12. When we were kids on Treasure Island, my parents had us in Tap dance & Ballroom dancing classes. We would put on shows with the other kids in the different classes for the parents about twice a year. I even have a yellowed newspaper picture of us my mom saved.
13. I once was bitten on the butt by my next-door neighbors’ terrier. What a pain in the ass!
14. When I was in 2nd grade, I was playing dodge ball and was doing the best in the class!
15. That was, until "Jocelyn del a Rosa". She hit me in the shins, my feet went out from under me and my face hit the ground. After my teeth went though my lips, and I got stitches, everyone at school was like "coooool". I had fame for oh so brief a time.
16. Then they "outlawed" dodge ball at my school because of that incident. Bummer!
17. When I was 8, I learned how to bowl.
18. I bowled on a league team until I was 21.
19. My highest game I’ve bowled ever was a 247.
20. I did the normal little league thing when I was a kid.
21. My dad was the coach of the team.
22. I stopped playing baseball after my 1st season with the minor league (one step up from little league).
23. I was 14 when I got my 1st job.
24. My parents drove me around making me fill out applications. It worked.
25. My 1st car was a 1966 Cadillac Coupe de Ville I got when I was 14 1/2. I had to wait 6 months before I could drive it.
26. As I drove it into the back yard, I hit the gate and put a dent in it.
27. It gave me 8 miles to the gallon and had a fuel leak.
28. My 1st "stick" car was a Pacer (yea the pregnant fishbowl/roller-skate on wheels).
29. My 2nd car was one of my all time favorites. A 1960 Olds Super 88. Just like my Grandparents car.
30. I screwed up, didn’t take care of it, & the transmission dropped. Wish I still had it today!
31. I recently sold my convertible to get a "Box" car- the Scion XB. Way cool!
32. When I was in high school, the cops took me out of one of my classes to question me about a Hit & Run involving my car.
33. Turned out my brother "borrowed" my car when he didn’t know how to drive yet & had quite an adventure. He was sick from school that day.
34. I’ve never really been into football or basketball.
35. I took my required "P/E" class during the summer so I could get it out of the way.
36. It only lasted 4 hours a day for 3 weeks.
37. I actually enjoyed it, exercising, playing soccer & jumping on the trampoline are the memories that stand out the best.
38. I didn’t go to my high school’s 20th reunion.
39. I went to another high school’s 20th reunion.
40. My circle of friends all went to that other school.
41. It was really great to see them!
42. When I was in high school, one of the jobs I had was at a steak & seafood restaurant.
43. It burned down just before Christmas.
44. The song "Slip Sliding Away" by Paul Simon brings back those memories for me.
45. At the time, a "rival" restaurant let us know they would hire anyone who wanted a job.
46. Most of my friends from the restaurant followed me over.
47. When the old place rebuilt, we (all my friends & I) got a chance to help redesign the place and took part in getting it back open.
48. The 1st time I got drunk was on what was to be our "grand opening" night.
49. The fire marshal didn’t have a form filled out or something, so that delayed grand opening by one day, but they didn’t say anything about it until two hours before the party was to start, so my friends and I had the "great" job of turning people away at the door.
50. We then drank "frozen margaritas". Mmmmmmmmm!
51. I didn’t drive home, but when I got there, I realized I had forgot my keys, so I had to ring the doorbell to get inside.
52. When my parents opened the door (about 10:30 pm), I wouldn’t shut up! I thought I was being cool and sober, but I was just a rambling drunk. They caught onto it.
53. I didn’t touch alcohol for a long time after that!
54. I’m an easy drunk now! One beer gets me buzzed.
55. I don’t even remember the last time I had a beer.
56. My folks gave my brother & I a trip to Hawaii for Christmas one year.
57. We went in April and had a really great time! Stayed in a hotel for a week, and then with my cousin for another week.
58. When there, I got caught in a riptide on a boogie board, didn’t know it and was never so glad to be able to make it back to the beach! Close call.
59. I’ve been on two cruises.
60. The 1st was to the Mexican Riviera. Wow!
61. The 2nd went from Tahiti to Sydney. Double Wow!
62. It’s been 15 years since that cruise, and the people I met (from Australia) continue to be my friends. I’ve been to visit them and know the whole family!
63. We still keep in touch.
64. I have gone through stages where I listen to all types of music.
65. Except hard rock & rap!
66. When I moved away from New Mexico with my job, I moved to Tucson not even knowing exactly where it was.
67. I only knew one person I transferred from work with.
68. It was a while before I ventured out and went to any bars.
69. The bar I enjoyed going to had two bars inside (one disco and one country).
70. That’s where I learned how to line dance, two-step & shuffle.
71. I would come up to Phoenix very regularly to go dancing at Charlie’s.
72. I used to be a member of a gay dance group. I really enjoyed it. Members eventually left, so the group slowly disbanded. Bummer.
73. When I moved to Phoenix, I was there pretty regularly.
74. That’s where I met Scott.
75. We both tried to find out about each other through a mutual friend.
76. It really has been going strong ever since!
77. Nine years and counting!
78. I’m in love!
79. I’ve been at the same job for close to 21 years! Time flies!
80. I found a dead body out behind my work.
81. He wasn’t homeless.
82. I bought my 1st house when I was 23. It was actually a "prefab" doublewide brand new home that was put down in a permanent "prefab" community.
83. I lived there for 3 years before transferring with my job to Tucson.
84. It was a strange feeling moving away from home, taking that 1st step on my own.
85. I don’t tend to move much.
86. I lived in the same apartment in Tucson for 5 years, before moving to Phoenix.
87. I lived in the same town home I rented in Phoenix for 5 years before moving in with Scott to the 1st home we bought.
88. We lived there 5 years before moving one street north into an "upgraded" home that had just been redone.
89. What a difference one street makes! We know almost all our neighbors on this street vs. only one neighbor on the old one. This street has a more "community-feel" to it. I love it!
90. I got my 1st dog (Bailey) since I was a kid on Thanksgiving Day thanks to Scott!
91. I love Bailey!
92. Even though I wasn’t totally for it at the beginning (never owned a cat EVER), I love Zoe. It is so cute to watch her and Bailey play & groom each other. They are buds!
93. I think TIVO is the greatest invention! Now I can never leave the house. Must watch what it has recorded! Must! Must!
94. I have been called "Bad Movie boy" on SEVERAL occasions. Must watch whatever TiVo has recorded!
95. I do get teary eyed when watching heart-tugging shows.
96. I’m ticklish.
97. Try and tickle me AT YOUR OWN RISK.
98. My mom passed away in 2002.
99. I miss her.
100. I’m glad my dad has remarried. He needs it after 41 years!

So, once I get you drunk (1 beer) I can tickle you to my heart’s content, right? Muahahahahahaha… bet you wish you’d never admitted to that. {Evil plotting begins}
Bowling, baseball and dodgeball! You’re so butch!!
Offtopic: Hi! You popped a message on my blog the other day as you had come via BlogExplosion. And then next thing, I see your banner ad running a lot that day. What did you think of the results you got? I hope they were good? (I’m still new to blogging so please excuse me if that was not a nice question to ask!)
As for this 100 thing - gosh, good on you for taking the time to write it down. I’m afraid I haven’t the patience for such things. It’s nice that you are in love and can declare it. Long may you feel it
Hey Buckaroo… thx for breaking down and doing the list… we knew you could do it… trying to sneak it in on us on the weekend?!
Wow… lot of interesting places lived/visited… will have to grill you about it some time!
Way to go, Buckaroo! I know it’s not easy to come up with “100 Things” - I’ve tried before and only got up to about 7 before I realized that finding 100 interesting things about myself is a fruitless quest. Now you need to keep up the momentum with a blog of your own!
Thanks for sharing, Buckaroo! Scott sure is lucky to have you
I think your next project should be “3 Billion Things About Me (Buckaroo)”. You might want to get started.
*smooch*
First let me say how adorable you sound, just from the writing. Scott is lucky you live on the opposite side of the country, or else I’d set my evil sights on you.
I second Todd’s post. Butch, butch and more butch. I was a total wuss in dodgeball, never played any kind of team sports as a kid. They terrified me.
I don’t remember Land of the Giants, was it an aminated show? If not I probably didn’t bother with it as a kid.
I think you made up for not moving much as an adult by moving what seems like every three months as a kid. My life has been totally opposite.
I love that you went to another school’s 20th reunion, that cracks me up.
I didn’t get my first car until I was 23! My dad wouldn’t even allow me to get a used car.
A Pacer? OMG. My sister’s 2nd boyfriend, later her ex-husband, had one.
You and Scott met cute. I can’t stand it.
It’s been a pleasure getting a little slice of you, Buckaroo. I hope you guest blog for Scott again soon.
Buckaroo, first off, you’re a very lucky guy. Do me a favor and go give Scott a kiss for me
Secondly, you found a body… he wasn’t homeless, but who was he?? I’m sorry, but this Nancy Drew wants to know.
And thirdly, if you think Zoe and Baily are cute, you should watch a cat groom a ferret. Loads of fun.
Thanks for letting us get to know you man!
-Larry
Buckaroo we love you! Thanks for the 100 list.
So much fun to read!
OK you two are both so damn cute it makes me sick to my gizzard. And I don’t even know what y’all look like. And I’m not even from the south. But I am talkin’ like I am. I must be tired.
Anyway, nice to get to know you, Buckaroo. I love that name, Buckaroo. It’s so cute yet so butch. Hot.
Buckaroo, you and Scott sound like a relationship made in heaven. My blog is partly written tongue in cheek; but I say this in all seriousness. Love each other with all your hearts. Nothing else should matter, just your love for each other.
Hey Buckaroo! I can’t believe you did it, that’s great. Your list is very interesting plus we have a couple of things in common like the listening to different types of music stages, I have 1 brother but he’s 2 years older and I’m ticklish as well. Thanks for writing the list. Hope to read more from you soon.
Great list.
But is it wrong of me to want to know more about the dead body?
I agree with FARB. Dead body stories are comedy gold!!
Right today. Not as comic as lesbians hitting each other with hammers, but still funny!
Buckaroo, what I didn’t make your list???
Ok, I have found three, that’s THREE, dead bodies at work. And I do not work at a hospital or mortuary. It was at various jobs in real estate. Real estate, man, its a killer. Seriously.
Buckaroo, I just found the site and I think its great. I had a pup named Bailey too, she was a beagle (beagle Bailey.) My partner( I hate that word) and I have been together a little over nine years and we live outside of NYC. Come up and see us some time. Later
Hey Buckaroo,
My husband’s got a friend that lives on Treasure Island, it’s a cool place!
Thanks for sharing about yourself.

You both sound so nice. It’s great to read your 100 things. I’ve never done that. You seem so real and such a great couple. I will return. Thanks.
[...] Buckaroo didn’t know about my blog during the first month and a half. Finally on February 21st I came out to him and admitted “Yep! I’m a blogger.” He wasn’t too surprised knowing how much I like to play on the computer, but at first he had no interest in reading my blog. After a couple of weeks he finally took a peek at it, and from then on he was hooked. He used my blogroll to explore new blogs, and in turn their blogrolls to find even more new blogs. His blogroll is now longer than mine. Occasionally he will write something for my blog, although he himself though has no interest in starting a blog of his own. [...]

Do you really use that name?
#61 makes me really jealous, I’ve always wanted to go to the south pacific and australia. what was up with finding a dead body? that HAD to wierd.
Australia is much like other places… we just have less guns
Why? because all the snakes & spiders will kill you let alone people with guns! lol
Funny most people here (Oz) want to go to the USA… I mean spray on cheese in a can, god thats so bad I actually want to try it!
